EXCURSION TO PETERHOF (ON METEOR) WITH A VISIT TO TWO SMALL PALACES TO CHOOSE FR

Peterhof is one of the most charming former Royal residences in the suburbs of Saint Petersburg, located on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland about 30 km from the city. It is famous for its beautiful Paris with numerous fountains and sculptures, as well as its palaces.

Excursions to Peterhof accompanied by an individual guide are very popular, both among Russian-speaking guests and among foreigners. The trip to Peterhof on the ship “meteor” is 5 hours. The meteor is a high-speed hovercraft. The main berths are located on the Palace embankment. The river trip itself will take from 30 to 45 minutes. Stop at the Lower Peterhof Park. You will have an individual two-hour tour of this Park. The lower Park is full of world-famous fountains, sculptural groups and amazing natural landscapes. One of the most famous is the Monplaisir Palace, built by decree of Peter I and facing the Gulf of Finland. For protection from cold winds, the facade walls facing the Gulf of Finland were made thicker and stronger. Opposite the Palace are all the favorite fountains-firecrackers.

The ensemble of the Marli Palace is located at the junction between the sector ponds and the Marlin pond. The ponds were dug to drain the area and fit very neatly into the layout of the Park. Ponds were also used for economic purposes – they bred fish for the Royal table. Fish were trained to come to feed at the sound of a bell, which was a kind of fun for the Royal family and guests. The ensemble of the Palace “Marli “as well as” Monplaisir” is protected from the cold winds of the Gulf of Finland due to the high rampart, which was built from the ground when organizing ponds.

We recommend visiting the Museum “Bath complex”. The Museum will reveal the secrets of everyday life of the Royal family and the Imperial court. Visitors will enjoy a water fun-ball-splatter. In front of the “Bath house”, a Chinese garden was organized specially for the Queen on the shore of the Gulf of Finland. A walk in the garden allowed the Royal family and guests not only to walk among the flowers, but also to breathe the sea air.

The Upper and Lower grottos of the Grand Cascade are interesting to visit. In the Lower grotto was built the fountains. Visitors can see tunnels with water pipes and an exhibition dedicated to the work of fountain masters of the past.
