The Faberge Museum is located in the Shuvalov Palace. One of the most valuable and significant exhibits is the nine Easter eggs that Faberge created specifically for the order of the emperors Nicholas II and Alexander III.
The history of creating these Easter eggs is quite fascinating: it began with an egg called “hen”, which was made in 1885 for the wife of Alexander III, Maria Feodorovna. Principle of operation the eggs resembled the doll that is in the shell of enamel is a Golden yolk, inside the yolk is a chicken, and the chicken crown. After that, every year the Emperor gave his wife a Faberge egg, and after the death of Alexander III, his heir kept this tradition.
